Reno, Nev. – For the second time in his career, Brian Brown has been called up to the Jamaican National Soccer Team.

Brown will join the team for the CONCACAF Nations League Qualifier against El Salvador on March 23rd. The match will be played at Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador, El Salvador. Brown and the Jamaican National Team will then travel to San José, Costa Rica for an international friendly against Costa Rica on March 26th at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica.

Originally from Sandy Bay, Jamaica, Brown played in the Jamaican Red Stripe Premier League in 2013 for Harbor View. That same year, he won the RSPL Golden Boot (most valuable player award) after scoring 18 goals.

Also, in 2013, when Brown was 20 years old, the forward appeared in two international friendlies for the National Team against Trinidad and Tobago.

“I’m really happy for Brian Brown. This his third year with our club, and the amount of improvements in his game has been really good,” head coach Ian Russell said. “I think he’s a player that’s really taken it upon himself to get more fit. He’s been eating healthier and working a lot harder than when he first got here. I think he’s been rewarded with a National Team callup, which is really deserved.”

After his highest-scoring season in 2018 with Reno 1868 FC, Brown is off to a stellar start to his 2019 run with three goals in the first two matches. The Jamaican is in the early running for the 2019 Golden Boot and hopes to only go up from here.

“I’m overwhelmed,” Brown said. “It’s been a while for me getting called up to the National Team so I don’t even know what to say. I’m just grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to it.”

Brown departs for El Salvador on Wednesday, March 20th and will return to Reno on the 28th.
