Live music, dancing, drink specials, and much more included in festival

On Saturday, May 4th, Greater Nevada Field will hold the inaugural Cinco de Mayo Soccer Festival presented by Reno GMC Latino. The festival will include the Super Clásico Leyendas match and the Reno 1868 FC v Tulsa Roughnecks FC match.  A ticket to both matches can be purchased for as low as $30 by clicking here.

The Super Clásico Leyendas match will kick-off at 4 p.m. where Leyendas del Guadalajara will face off against America Leyendas. Players including German Villa, Christian Patiño, Ivan Zamorano, Fabian Estay, Ramon Ramirez, Paulo Chavez Claudio Suarez, and Hector Reynoso will play in this match.

Once the match ends, a DJ booth will set-up in the Jose Cuervo Tent where the party will begin until the second match begins. A mariachi band will play alongside a folkloric dance group at the front of section 105, and then both groups will make their way over to the Cuervo Tent and around the stadium to continue their performance.

The Jose Cuervo tent will also have drink specials for the time between the two matches. Drink specials are $2 domestic beers, $4 craft beers, and $2 Micheladas. There will also be face painting for kids by the Kid’s Zone until 8 p.m.

This celebration will continue once the Reno 1868 FC v Tulsa Roughnecks game kicks off at 6:45 p.m. During halftime of this match, a mariachi band will perform on the field, there will be Spanish Dancing Horses around the field, and many mascot characters around the stadium interacting with children and taking photos.

500 t-shirts will be given away to fans at the Jose Cuervo tent, and a team signed Reno 1868 FC jersey will be raffled off at the end of halftime. Many more prizes will be given out during the first and second half of the match and the Canelo Alvarez vs. Daniel Jacobs fight will be shown live in Good Hops located upstairs at Greater Nevada Field.

“There is no other event in town that will have the amount of Cinco de Mayo activities that Greater Nevada Field will have," Reno 1868 FC General Manager Doug Raftery said. "We are delighted to be able to host a true soccer festival for the first time and look forward to welcoming all fans to enjoy two matches around the festivities.”

This will be first and only festival in Reno of it’s kind and it is encouraged to buy tickets now as they are selling fast and space is limited!
