Reno1868FC.com recently sat down with Sparks High School graduate Kevin Partida to learn more about his favorite things on and off the soccer pitch.
Partida attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 2013-2017, to play collegiate soccer for the Rebels. After being drafted in the third round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft by San Jose, Partida has featured for the Earthquakes as well as 1868 FC.
On December 16, 2019, Partida officially signed with his hometown team for the 2020 season.
Who were the soccer players you looked up to when you were growing up?
Growing up, I looked up to Ronaldinho.
Any reason why?
He was just the most skillful of his time, so he was fun to watch.
What are some things you like to do in the Reno/Sparks area?
Around town, I mean Lake Tahoe is a big one in the summer mostly. Other than that, I just kind of hang out around Sparks.
I noticed you graduated from Sparks High School, and the city declared June 1 as Kevin Partida Day. How do you feel about having a day in your honor?
Yeah, it gave me a lot of pride. I’ve always mentioned how proud I am coming from this part of town, and to be able to represent my city and all of Northern Nevada has always been special.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Before I decided to be a soccer player, I thought I could be a marine biologist before I knew how hard it was.
What are you currently watching on Netflix?
Narcos and The Chef Show.
Would you rather cook or order in?
Cook.
Are you good at cooking?
Yeah, I am good at cooking.
What is your favorite meal to make?
My favorite meal to make is Mariscos which is Mexican seafood.
