Reno1868FC.com recently sat down with Benji Kikanovic to learn more about the youngest player on the team.
Kikanovic began his collegiate soccer career playing for Sacramento State in 2018. During his two seasons with the Hornets, Kikanovic was named Big West Co-Freshman of the Year, Big West Second Team All-Conference, and Big West All-Freshman Team. 1868 FC signed Kikanovic on January 13th.
Are there any soccer players you look up to or idols in the soccer world that you wanted to be when you were growing up?
Yeah, the original Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimović, especially right now. I got to see Zlatan play a few times when he was here in the U.S., so I always looked up to him when I was younger. I want to be just like him, so we will see.
For our fans, can you give them a little preview of what they can expect to see from you on the field or how you describe your game?
I work hard, score goals, and try to help the team out. The main thing for me is just working hard, you know, I feel like if you work hard, you can accomplish anything.
What is the number one item on your bucket list?
I want to go to Croatia to visit Dubrovnik because it is really beautiful there. I am from Bosnia, so it is close, and I want to go see it.
Is there a band or musician you would love to hang out with?
I want to hang out with Polo G. He is a rapper, and we have the same birthday.
Do you have a go-to dance move?
No, I don’t really dance. I just chill.
What does your ideal weekend look like?
I hang out with the family, relax, stay inside and watch T.V. Anything with my family really.
If you weren’t playing soccer, what would you be doing instead?
I think I would want to be a cop. I feel like a cop is something you can do every day, and it’s not repetitive. I think that would be interesting.
Who would you say is the funniest guy on the team?
Definitely [Mouhamed] Dabo. He is a clown, but I love him. He is my brother.
