RENO – Reno 1868 FC will be hosting its second public tryout on November 5, 2016, at Moana Springs Recreational Complex, the official site of the 1868 FC practices for 2017 and beyond.
Due to significant interest from individuals who were unable to attend the first tryout, it was decided to host a second round. Over 130 individuals attended Reno 1868’s first tryout, with 13 players invited back to an invitational tryout that will be held in early 2017.
“We were thrilled with the capacity turnout as well as the talent level from our first tryout,” said Reno 1868 FC general manager Andy Smith. “That said, we heard from many local players who were unable to attend due to conflicts, injuries, and limited availability. We needed to ensure all players received another chance at making this team. I’m certain we’ll add to the growing list of players invited back for the Invitational Tryout in 2017.”
For $150, prospective players can partake in the tryout, which includes two shirts, lunch and two tickets to the 2017 Reno 1868 home opener. To participate in the tryout, players must complete the required registration form.
Greater Nevada Field will host up to 18 matches in 2017, with 16 coming as regular-season matches for Reno 1868 FC during their inaugural USL campaign. The USL previously announced that the regular season will expand 32 matches beginning in 2017.
Since the franchise was announced in September 2015, Reno 1868 FC has unveiled its club name, colors, crest and home jersey kit. The away kit and coaching staff will be announced at a later date.
