RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC has officially signed midfielder Seth Casiple and defender Jake Ward, pending league and federation approval. Casiple was chosen from the invitational tryouts while Ward became the second player to be signed from the open tryouts alongside Reno native Anibal Echeverria.
“Both of these players are great additions to our team,” said Ian Russell, head coach of Reno 1868 FC. “Seth is a great technical player, and Jake is a very tough and athletic defender.”
Casiple, 23, was selected by the Portland Timbers in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. After being released, Casiple signed on with Portland Timbers 2 of the USL. In his debut with the club, he assisted two goals in a 2-0 victory over Premier Development League club Michigan Bucks in the third round of the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Ward, 28, currently resides in Truckee, California, and most recently played soccer at California State University, Chico. In 2013, he started in all 18 matches and scored two game-winning goals. Before attending Chico, he played one season at Butte College. At Butte, Ward earned All-Golden Valley Conference honors in 2008.
