RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC has officially signed Midfielder Chris Wehan, pending league and federation approval. Wehan, 22, spent the summer of last year training with the San Jose Earthquakes before he was invited to do a trial with Reno 1868 FC last month.

“Chris is a very young and talented player,” said Ian Russell, head coach of Reno 1868 FC. “He was a prolific goal scorer in college and I believe Chris will make an immediate impact for our offense.”

In Wehan’s junior year, he was named to the First Team All-Conference USA after leading the Lobos with 10 goals scored. In the same year, Wehan was named MVP and best offensive player of the Grange & Ashwell Memorial Invitational and earned a spot on the Academic All-Conference USA.

As a senior, Wehan led the Lobos to victory in the 2016 Conference USA Men’s Soccer tournament and was declared the MVP. In the same year, Wehan made the NSCAA First Team All-Southwest Region and earned First Team All-Conference USA honors. During his time with the Lobos, Wehan scored a total of 31 goals in 80 appearances

Wehan and Reno 1868 FC will take on Sacramento Republic FC Saturday, March 11 from Greater Nevada Field at 4:00 p.m.
