RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC has officially Dembakwi Yomba, pending league and federation approval. Yomba, 20, played two seasons with La Liga club, Atlético Madrid. Yomba is also the youngest player to be signed by 1868 FC.

“Dembakwi is a young and explosive striker who has good pace and instincts,” said Ian Russell, head coach of Reno 1868 FC. “He’s a player we are looking to develop here in Reno.”

Yomba joined the Atlético youth program in 2014. In the same year, he made his international debut for Atlético in the EUFA (Union of European Football) Youth League against Olympiacos. Yomba and his former Spanish club would later advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament. Prior to his stints with Atlético, Yomba played for the United States U-17, U-18, and U-20 teams.  Yomba was scouted while traveling with the U-18 Men's National team to the Copa del Atlantico in Spain.

Yomba most recently played for Orlando City B of the United Soccer League and trained under former US soccer player Eddie Johnson. After Yomba left Orlando, he was invited by 1868 FC as a trialist for the club’s inaugural season. The forward made multiple appearances with the club during its preseason, including a friendly against Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes.

Yomba and 1868 FC will take on Orange County FC in Reno’s Inaugural home opener Saturday, March 25 at Greater Nevada Field at 4:00 p.m.
