Reno 1868 FC post game quotes
Head Coach Ian Russell
On how the defense is clicking
“We have some continuity back there. Earlier in the season we were throwing guys back there because we had no healthy bodies. They are getting used to each other right now.”
On forward Dane Kelly’s seventh goal in three matches
“He’s a goal scorer. He has pace and he’s really starting to hold the ball better. I think that was one of his deficiencies early on. But he’s getting better at that and he’s finishing chances.”
On keeping the momentum ahead of a road trip
“I think we have to try to keep the same team. But then you have to be a little bit careful because we only have three days before out next game. But I will look and see how everyone is doing and how the lineup is going to be.”
Forward Dane Kelly
On scoring off of his blocked penalty shot
“I saw the rebound and I thought I knew I was going to hit it and score. And I did so it felt great.”
On winning the fourth overall match in a row
“It feels excellent. I always want to score no matter what. But if the team gets the three points, I am good.”
On what is going right for the team
“I think we are all feeling pretty confident. Everybody is doing great defensively and we’re just doing great overall as a team.”
Defender Jimmy Ockford
On getting a goal off the header
“It was a perfect service in from Chris Wehan. With that pass being right on the money, I was just in the right spot and put it in the goal.”
On what is clicking for the team
“We have great pressure all around the field, putting it in great spots and we’re keeping balls when we have to. We’re just gelling.”
On getting the three points
“This is massive. Especially because that makes it four (wins) in a row now. This is great for our mental confidence.”
