Local fan dresses up as Reno 1868 FC player for career day

RENO, Nev. — There is no greater passion for Florence Drake Elementary first grader Christopher Ramirez than soccer.

"I want to be a professional soccer player when I grow up," Christopher said. "I want to play for 1868 one day."

And Ramirez means it.

For career day at his school on Friday, Ramirez dressed up as a Reno 1868 FC player complete with the official blue jersey.

"My classmates liked it," Christopher said.

Christopher's mother Julia said he's been a huge fan of Reno 1868 FC since the first match.

She surprised him with a jersey while he was watching the inaugural friendly against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Ever since that game, Christopher has rarely been seen without his Reno 1868 FC blue jersey.

"He's really likes being at the games," Julia Ramirez said. "He likes (Anibal Echeverria) and Junior (Burgos).

"But he just loves the team in general."

Christopher and his family plan to be in the stands at the upcoming Reno 1868 FC matches.

The next Reno 1868 FC match at Greater Nevada Field is June 7 against the Rio Grande Valley FC.
