Reno 1868 FC Earns Point After Tie Against Switchbacks FC

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Forward Dane Kelly scored his eighth goal in four games and Antoine Hoppenot notched two goals but Reno 1868 FC had to settle for a 3-3 tie against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.

Saturday marked the second time both teams tied this season with both earning a point in the USL standings after Saturday’s tie.

Reno 1868 FC got off to a hot start thanks to Hoppenot's goal in the 37th minute off a beautiful assist by Brent Richards.

Five minutes later, USL leading scorer Dane Kelly notched his 10th goal of the season and Reno entered halftime with a 2-0 lead.

Colorado Springs turned it up a notch in the second half.

Switchbacks FC sub Aaron King opened up scoring in the 50th minute to make it 2-1 Reno 1868 FC.

Seven minutes later, Switchbacks FC defender Jordan Burt tied the game up at 2-2.

Hoppenot was not finished as he made it 3-2 in the 85th minute with his second goal of the match after an assist by Reno sub Mackenzie Pridham.

However, Reno's defense could not hold as Burt found the goal again in the 88th minute off an assist by Eddy Prugh.

Both teams finished with seven shots on target and Reno 1868 FC ended with a 74 percent pass accuracy percentage.

Reno 1868 FC returns home ahead of its Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against Sacramento Republic FC in Sacramento on May 31 (7:30 p.m. at Papa Murphy’s Park).
