RENO, Nev. — For Reno 1868 FC midfielder Junior Burgos, there is nothing sweeter than representing your club and country.
In the past two weeks, the El Salvadorian international has done both and has contributed in a major way for both teams.
Burgos played and instrumental role in Reno's 6-0 blowout win on May 20 against Sounders FC 2 recording an assist in the 90th minute.
The midfielder joined his international side after Reno's 4-0 win against Tulsa Roughnecks FC and helped El Salvador rally back in the second half and finish with a 2-2 draw against Honduras.
"It's really a smooth transition from international to club play," Burgos said after arriving back in Reno on Monday. "It was a great feeling representing my country and I'm excited to be back."
Despite Wednesday's 2-0 loss to Sacramento Republic FC, Burgos notched two key passes and two shots on target as he got back into a rhythm with his Reno teammates.
Burgos is expected to play in El Salvador's matches against Venezuela on June 10 and Ecuador on June 13.
Reno 1868 FC will take on Rio Grande Valley FC on June 7 at 7:30 at Greater Nevada Field. Tickets for that match are still available online and at the Greater Nevada Field ticket office.
