RENO, Nev. – This Saturday will be twice as nice for Reno 1868 FC forward Brian Brown.

Brown gets to watch teammate Dane Kelly, who he considers a close friend, play for his native Jamaican national team against Canada.

But Brown will likely have to watch it on replay as he’s expected to start in Reno’s match against Orange County SC (7 p.m. on USL’s YouTube channel).

“You know it’s a great feeling to both play and see Dane play for Jamaica,” Brown said. “I think this will be a big opportunity for the both of us.”

Both players, who hail from Jamaica, are looking to carry their teams to wins this weekend.

Kelly will make his debut for the national team while Brown will make his fourth start for Reno this season, although Brown’s recently been hot off the bench.

Brown has scored two goals and notched three assists, including a game-winning assist against Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Aug. 5.

His form has caught the eye of Kelly, who will be cheering on Brown from afar following his match.

“Brian is playing really well right now,” Kelly said. “His form is good, he’s scoring goals and creating opportunities for others.

“Although I am not going to be there on Saturday, I know that he is more than capable of helping out the guys.”
