SEATTLE, Wash. – Reno 1868 FC extended its unbeaten streak to seven-straight matches after drawing with Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Saturday.

The 1-1 draw pushed Reno within six points of a spot in the USL playoffs.

Saturday night began in odd fashion for Reno 1868 FC though.

Seattle’s Zach Mathers opened up scoring in the opening minute of play. Mathers’ goal came off a set piece following an early foul call.

But in typical Reno fashion, the squad did not let up off the gas with the back-four holding firm, especially behind the play of defender Brenton Griffiths.

Griffiths led all defenders with 11 clearances and recorded three additional tackles.

Fellow Jamaican Brian Brown was able to capitalize off a Reno set piece in the 38th minute to knot things up at 1-1 headed into halftime.

The goal moved Reno to within two goals of setting a new USL record for most goals in a single season.

Reno’s defense remained firm despite several attacks and counters by Seattle in the second half and Reno walked away with another point on the season.

Players and staff return home to Reno on Sunday following more than a week on the road.

Reno will practice in the “Biggest Little City” before playing its fourth-straight away match at Rio Grande Valley FC on Sept. 16.
