RENO, Nev. – A chance to secure a USL playoff spot is on the line as Reno 1868 FC travels to take on Rio Grande Valley FC on Saturday in Edinburg, Texas.
Both teams square-off for the second time this season at 5:30 p.m PT at H-E-B Park. Reno took the first match this season 3-2 back in June at Greater Nevada Field.
Reno is three points away from a playoff spot in its inaugural season. A win and the club is in.
Reno is also two goals away from setting a new USL record for most goals in a single season by a team. The current record (61) is held by New York Red Bulls II.
Reno 1868 FC is led by the USL’s all-time leading goal scorer in Dane Kelly, who has 16 goals to his name this year.
Kelly remains deadlocked in first place in the race for the USL’s Golden Boot.
He scored in the last meeting between these two clubs.
Rio Grande Valley FC is led by Kyle Murphy, who has six goals on the season.
