MCALLEN, Texas – Reno 1868 FC’s seven-match unbeaten streak was snapped Saturday night in South Texas.

Reno fell 1-0 to Rio Grande Valley FC in the club’s second meeting with the team this season.

Saturday night was especially frustrating for a normally hot Reno offense as the night was marred by several fouls.

In fact, the only goal of the match came off a scored penalty kick in the 32nd minute by Justin Bilyeu following a yellow card issued to Reno goalkeeper Matt Bersano.

Reno could not find its footing the entire night, especially with foul trouble.

In the 79th minute, forward Dane Kelly was sent off after being issued a red card following a collision with RGVFC’s goalkeeper Calle Brown.

Despite dangerous attackers like Darwin Espinal and Brian Brown being subbed in, Reno could not find the equalizer.

This match concluded what has been a four-match road trip in which Reno earned seven points. The club is now just one win away (three points) from clinching a playoff spot.

Reno is also two goals away from setting a new USL record for most goals in a single season.

The club returns to Reno for a match against OKC Energy FC on Wednesday at Greater Nevada Field at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday is also “College Night” at Greater Nevada Field. All college students who show their college ID at the box office can get in for just $5.
