Chris Wehan Named Reno 1868 FC's Midfielder of the Year

RENO, Nev. – After leading the United Soccer League in assists and tying a league record, midfielder Chris Wehan has been named Reno’s Midfielder of the Year.

Wehan made a name for himself in his rookie season by having his hand in 20 of Reno’s 75 goals. Wehan’s 12 assists tied a league-record for most in a single season. Wehan also scored eight goals himself helping in Reno’s lethal attack.

Wehan’s 66 chances created (2.3 per match) were good for third in the USL during the season. The young midfielder also contributed from a defensive end, notching 25 interceptions.

The first call Wehan received after going undrafted was from Reno. The call helped launch the career of one of the top young talents in the USL and United States professional soccer. Wehan was named Midseason Rookie of the Year and he is a finalist for Rookie of the Year which will be announced on November 21.
