RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC will scrimmage against its second Major League Soccer opponent this season on Thursday.
Reno will scrimmage against a Clint Dempsey-led Seattle Sounders team at UC-Davis.
The scrimmage will be behind closed doors and not opened to the public.
Last week, Reno played against its MLS affiliate (the San Jose Earthquakes) at Avaya Stadium.
San Jose won that friendly 4-0 while both teams extended their affiliation.
“This is a good opportunity to get another preseason test in against one of the top clubs in the MLS,” Reno head coach Ian Russell said.
Seattle is coming off its second-straight MLS Cup final appearance. The Sounders won the cup in 2016 against Toronto FC in a penalty shootout.
Regarded as one of the top clubs in American pro soccer both on and off the pitch, the Sounders are led by American soccer star Clint Dempsey. Dempsey has scored 46 goals with the club since his return to the states in 2013 after a brief stint with Premier League giant, Tottenham Hotspur.
Kickoff for Thursday’s scrimmage is slated for 12:30 p.m. For up to the minute coverage, follow Reno 1868 FC on Twitter at @Reno1868FC.
