Reno 1868 FC begins Rivalry Week at Greater Nevada Field with rival Sacramento Republic FC this Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
The two regional rivals have battled it out over the past two seasons with Reno holding a slight advantage in the series dubbed the "Donner Pass Derby" after the Donner Pass, which separates the two USL Western Conference powers.
This season, both Reno and Sacramento are again fighting for a spot in the USL Cup Playoffs. Both made it in 2017 and this Saturday's final regular season contest between the clubs could prove crucial as we hit the final stretch of the season.

2017
The first meeting between the two clubs in the regular season was June 10 , 2017 at Greater Nevada Field. Reno 1868 FC completely dominated the match-up with 2017's leading scorers Dane Kelly and Anotine Hoppenot recording a goal in the 2-0 win. The win was Reno's fourth-straight home win of the season.
The second regular season meeting between the two clubs in 2017 was an absolute thriller. Just when Reno went down in the 15th minute after a goal from Sacramento's Hayden Partain, Dane Kelly pulled Reno back two minutes later to even up the score at 1-1.
Five minute later, 2017 USL Rookie of the Year Chris Wehan provided Reno's goal of the season off a free kick that put the game to bed at 2-1.
The final contest of 2017 was a back-and-forth affair that Reno thankfully hung onto. Sacramento striker Sammy Ochoa (now with Las Vegas Lights FC) began the scoring in the 19th minute to put Sacramento Republic FC up 1-0. Reno's Chris Wehan evened up the scoring in the 41st minute to even things up at 1-1 headed into halftime.
Reno briefly grabbed the lead in the 51st minute thanks to a goal by Antoine Hoppenot. But Ochoa's big night continued and the striker tied things up in the 67th minute at 2-2. Reno held on for the draw and remained undefeated in the regular season series against Sacramento.
2018
Perhaps the greatest match in Reno 1868 FC's history happened in the fourth regular season meeting between the clubs.
It was May 12, 2018 and it was not looking like Reno's night early on. Goals by Saramento's Matjasic and Iwasa had Reno down 2-0 after the first half. Reno was facing one of its largest halftime deficits of the season.
But the second-half squad pulled off an incredible feat scoring three goals in five minutes in the second half. Earthquakes loanee Paul Marie started the comeback in the 57th minute after a beautiful streak into the middle of the field. Two minutes later, Brian Brown tied the match up at 2-2 off a Marie assist.
Just three minutes later in the 62nd minute, Mo Thiaw gave Reno the 3-2 lead burying a ball to the right of keeper Josh Cohen to give Reno arguably the best comeback win in club history.
