As 2018 nears its endpoint, Reno 1868 FC will be looking back at the Top 5 games in 2018. The list compiled includes preseason, friendly and playoff matches from Reno's record-breaking season.

RENO, Nev. — The date was April 21.

Already a month into its season, Reno 1868 FC was searching for its first win of the young 2018 season.

Things were not looking good for Reno early in Portland as the club went down 1-0 after a Timbers 2 goal in the 38th minute.

Reno went into halftime trailing 1-0 looking for answers. After a few halftime adjustments, including the insertion of Sparks native Kevin Partida into the midfield, Reno came out a brand-new team in the second half.

Reno’s back four led by Zach Carroll, who made his Reno debut that match, kept Portland at bay as Reno began to create more chances.

Right at the 75th minute, Reno’s top chance creator for 2018 Antoine Hoppenot found rookie forward Danny Musovski on a cross to help Reno tie up the game with 15 minutes left. Right then Reno would have captured its second point of 2018.

But the duo wasn’t done.

Defender James Kiffe started off a sequence in the 89th minute where he laid it off to forward Mo Thiaw who found Hoppenot right in front of Portland keeper Kendall McIntosh. The unselfish Hoppenot found Mussovski running free towards the net and the rookie sealed a 2-1 win for the club from the Biggest Little City.

The win was not only Reno’s first of 2018, it was the first of a 16-match unbeaten streak which set a new club record.
