RENO, Nev. -- Was there ever any doubt?

This match on Aug. 28, 2018 will forever be remembered as one of the top matches in club history.

In the second installment of the Silver State Cup, Reno 1868 FC was looking to extend its double-digit unbeaten streak and get the edge for bragging rights against its new in-state rival, Las Vegas Lights FC.

Both clubs drew 1-1 in the first meeting in Las Vegas back on March 24. The talk between both clubs leading up to this meeting only fueled the heated rivalry.

But it would all be settled in dramatic fashion.

Forward Brian Brown opened up the scoring for Reno after a beautiful find  by defender Jordan Murrell. Reno went into halftime up 1-0 but their lead would not last long.

Carlos Alvarez tied up the match in the 47th minute for Las Vegas and it was the team from down south that had the upper hand in the second half. Goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski was a workhorse to keep the match tied up into what looked like would be another draw.

Antoine Hoppenot was having none of that.

In the 94th minute, Hoppenot timed his run perfectly in Reno's last-ditched effort. Midfielder Guy Abend delivered the assist of the year, lobbing it up to a streaking Hoppenot who hit it first time past Vegas goalkeeper Ricardo Ferrino to seal the 2-1 win in the final seconds.

Hoppenot ran towards the far corner, took off his jersey in celebration and captured the best yellow card in club history.

In a state known for thrilling shows, Reno put on the best one Aug. 28, 2018.
