RENO, Nev. – Nevada native and former UNLV standout Danny Musovski has signed with Reno 1868 FC, the club announced Thursday pending league and federation approval.

The Henderson, Nev. native joins Reno full-time after spending 2018 on loan from the San Jose Earthquakes, Reno’s Major League Soccer affiliate.

Musovski, a 2018 MLS SuperDraft pick, was one of Reno’s top scorers in 2018 and his late heroics helped Reno start and extend the longest unbeaten streak in club history.

“Danny is a young forward that showed a lot of upside during his rookie season,” Reno head coach Ian Russell said Thursday. “He’s a great finisher from inside the box and we’re excited to see what he can do this season.”

After Reno earned just one point through its first four matches last season, it was Musovski who helped spark a massive climb up the Western Conference standings.

It all began on April 21 when Musovski scored both goals in Reno’s thrilling 2-1 comeback win over Portland Timbers 2. The win would kickstart a 16-match unbeaten streak and earned Musovski USL Player of the Week honors.

He would finish his rookie year with five goals including two match-winners and two that helped Reno escape with a point on the road.

Musovski was selected in the SuperDraft by San Jose with the 30th overall pick out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2018. He was a four-year starter and two-time All-America selection for UNLV.

During his senior season in 2017, he scored 15 goals and added six assists in 16 appearances, earning Third Team All-America and Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors.

Reno 1868 FC begins its season Feb. 9 in a preseason duel with MLS affiliate, the San Jose Earthquakes at 12:15 p.m. inside Greater Nevada Field. Tickets for that match can be found at Reno1868FC.com or at the Greater Nevada Field ticket office.
