Casey Tate returns to Reno 1868 FC for his fourth season with the club, having been on Ian Russell’s staff since the club’s inception in 2017.

Through his first three seasons with Reno 1868 FC, Tate has been a part of 51 regular season wins. The regular season win total tied FC Cincinnati’s USL record for the most wins through a club’s first three seasons.

Tate’s tenure at 1868 FC has produced a USL MVP in Dane Kelly, a rookie of the year in Chris Wehan and four All-League appearances (Kelly, Wehan, Jimmy Ockford and Corey Hertzog).

Before joining 1868, Tate spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Nevada. In 2016, Tate served as interim co-head coach with current Wolf Pack head coach Erin Otagaki.

Prior to Nevada, Tate served as the girls’ soccer coach at Seton Catholic Preparatory High School in Arizona where he led the school to back-to-back state titles in 2006 and 2007. Both years, Tate earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America Coach of the year honors. In 2007 and 2008, Tate was named Arizona state coach of the year, and regional coach of the year in 2007, 2008 and 2010.

Tate was an assistant coach at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, where he played collegiately, for eight years with numerous national academic and soccer awards, as well as a fourth place finish at the NJCAA Junior College National Tournament. He was on the Arizona Olympic Development Staff for four years and helped run their YOP program. He also was a volunteer coach for one season with the WPSL Northern Arizona Cheetahs.

Tate played collegiately at Chandler-Gilbert, Indiana Institute of Technology, and Arizona State University. He received his degree from Ottawa University in History, and holds his US Soccer Federation Class A coaching license.

Tate and his wife, Kristina, have three daughters, Ava, Maleah, Makenzie, and a son, Chandler.
