Head Athletic Trainer

Patera is entering his third year with Reno 1868 FC as the Head Athletic Trainer.

Before starting his career in Athletic training Patera attended George Mason University where he studied Athletic Training from 2000 to 2003. He then went to get his bachelors degree in Athletic training at James Madison University in 2004 to 2006.

Steve started his Athletic Training career in 2008 with the Washington Capitals where he was the athletic training intern before heading over to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.

From there he spent 2011 to 2012 with the Arizona Brewers as their Athletic trainer. During this year he obtained his Master’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science at Georgia Southern University.

Continuing his career he then went to the Huntsville Stars AA from 2013 to 2014. Before coming to Reno in 2015 to 2016 Patera was with the Bilox Shuckers AA.

Steve enjoys spending his free time being a trivia buff and living life on the edge by doing crossword puzzles in pen.
