In our Countdown to Playoffs, Reno1868FC.com will be highlighting notable moments, memorable performances, statistical trends, and more leading up to October 26.

Our third installment (11 days until playoffs) looks at the club's success on the road in 2019

Beginning with the club's inaugural season in 2017, Reno 1868 FC has been one of the strongest road teams in USL. The club boasts a 9-5-2 record away from Greater Nevada Field and will aiming for their tenth win on Saturday.

Head Coach Ian Russell attributes the team's road success to a commitment to the club's style of play.

"We don't really change tactics when we go on the road," Russell said. "We play the same way at home as on the road. We try to press teams, possess the ball, and attack a lot. That doesn't change whether we're at home or on the road".

Evidence of this can be seen in last Saturday's Silver State Cup 2-0 victory over Las Vegas Lights FC.  Reno dominated the match with 59.9% possession, 81.3% passing accuracy, and 73% passing accuracy in their opponents' half.

The success on the road has been a major reason for 1868 FC's second place position in the Western Conference. Compared to the teams directly behind them in the standings, 1868 FC has at least three or more away victories.
