Center back started club’s final eight matches

Reno 1868 FC has re-signed defender Thomas Janjigian for the 2020 season, pending league and federation approval. Janjigian has been a part of the club since 2017, Reno’s inaugural season. Janjigian is 10th all-time in starts for Reno, earning 40 starts over his three seasons with the club. The center back started Reno’s final eight matches of the 2019 regular season, as well as the playoff match against Sacramento Republic FC.

“Janjigian’s another player that’s been here since the inception,” said head coach Ian Russell. “He’s a very good technical left sided center back, he helps solidify our back four. Being here for three years, he knows what the culture is about, and brings that understanding.”

Janjigian appeared in 20 matches in 2019, starting 17. In August, Janjigian scored his first career goal. The defender headed in a corner kick to give Reno a 1-0 lead on the road against Rio Grande Valley FC.

“I’ve seen this organization grow since the first season, and I’m excited to come back to Reno and help the club win a USL Championship,” said Janjigian. The city has become my home and our fans are such a great support for the team. I can’t wait to get into training with the guys and back out on the pitch in 2020.”
