RENO, Nev. – Reno 1868 FC has brought back another player from the 2019 lineup in midfielder Sergio Rivas, pending league and federation approval. Rivas was drafted by the San Jose Earthquakes in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, and appeared in 16 games for Reno.

“Sergio’s a footballer. He’s a box-to-box player," said head coach Ian Russell. "One thing that sticks out with Sergio is that he started eight games and we won six of them. He’s a winner, he’s a very competitive player.”

Reno posted a 9-4-3 record in games Rivas appeared in during the 2019 season, going 6-2-0 in Rivas starts and 3-2-3 when he appeared as a substitute. Reno was 3-0-0 in games he scored or assisted in, winning by a combined score of 8-1 in those three games.

Rivas tallied two goals and an assist in eight starts in the 2019 season. Rivas made his USL debut on April 13 at Colorado Springs, and scored his first goal on April 20 in a 2-1 win over Albuquerque.
