“This exciting friendly is the next step in establishing the strongest USL/MLS partnership in the United States,” Reno president Eric Edelstein said. “We hope our fans will join us in making the trek over the hill to celebrate soccer with the Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium.”
Last season, it was the Earthquakes that made their way to Reno and captured a narrow 1-0 win at Greater Nevada Field. Earthquakes midfielder Tommy Thompson scored a back-heel that made SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays.
The Reno 1868 FC fanbase will be very familiar with a few new names on the Earthquakes’ roster this season.
Midfielders Luis Felipe, Chris Wehan and defender Jimmy Ockford recently signed with the Earthquakes after helping Reno capture a historic inaugural season that featured 75 goals (a USL record), 17 wins and the league’s MVP and Rookie of the Year.
Be sure to check out one of the best partnerships in all of American soccer this February.
